Students use a variety of welders while in the metalshop. The following are operating procedures:
6th Grade: Spot Welders 1. Turn on power and adjust weld time. 2. Open jaws and insert metal. 3. Close jaws by pressing handle down. 4. Press and hold trigger to weld.
7th Grade: MIG Welder, OXY Welder MIG or (Wire Welder) (Learn MIG Basics) 1. Turn on power and gas. 2. Connect ground clamp to work or work station. 3. Adjust wire speed and voltage. 4. Cover eyes. 5. Press and hold trigger.
OXY Welder 1. Open and adjust gases. 2. Light and adjust torch. 3. Heat metal and add filler rod.
8th Grade: MIG, OXY & ARC *See MIG and OXY steps above.
ARC Welder 1. Adjust voltage. 2. Connect ground clamp to work or work station. 3. Adjust electrod. 4. Strike arc and weld.
